The position
The focus areas of this role include the practical
laboratory aspects of microbial protein expression, mostly in
yeast, and high-throughput (HTP) protein purification using
automated workstations. You will spend a significant portion of
your workday in the lab, contributing to the acceleration of our
research projects.
This role encompasses all aspects of experimental work, from planning and designing experiments to executing them practically and documenting and presenting the results to colleagues across the organization.

In addition, it is beneficial if you have experience with advanced liquid handler programming, next-generation sequencing tools, genome editing, FACS and droplet microfluidics-based screens, and handling of large datasets with e.g. Python or other high-level, general-purpose programming languages.
The position requires significant collaboration and
coordination between different scientists and an organized and
detail-oriented mindset. To feel comfortable in this role, you
should have excellent communication and collaboration skills, be
a dedicated team player and possess a strong drive to take
responsibility and ownership.
Solid English capabilities are required for writing documentation and for communicating with colleagues in a multinational setting.
About the department
Microbial Expression Engineering (MiEE) is part of
Recombinant Drug Research and has microbial strain engineering
and protein production as core tasks. The primary responsibility
of MiEE is to ensure timely support to our research projects
with a broad range of protein expression technologies, strain
optimization tools, and production strains.
In Recombinant Drug Research, we collaborate across the full research value chain to discover and advance innovative recombinant protein and peptide therapeutic candidates. The area maintains a vibrant scientific culture and seamlessly connects broad competencies across multidisciplinary teams that are motivated by revolutionizing the development of innovative therapies to treat a wide range of serious chronic diseases.
